Accommodation

Choosing accommodation

Where you stay in Venice very much depends on your budget. If money is not really the main issue when choosing accommodation in Venzezia, then a very central and popular area such as San Marco is likely to be the best option. Other areas though such as:

  • Rialto
  • Cannaregio
  • San Polo
  • Giudecca
  • Santa Croce

Types of Venice Accommodation

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Venice, plenty of travel agents have a wide range of apartments available (including with apartments in San Marco) and are a good agency to book with. If it is a budget stay you are looking for, Hostal Venice (accredited with the IYH) is a hostel I have stayed in several times and greatly enjoyed. More youth hostels also can be found online.

Considerations when Booking

Venice attracts people of all ages and certainly a higher number of people in the summer months, as opposed to the winter months, hence air conditioning is one thing you will certainly want to consider, The city is compact and the buildings with the summer heat can get stuffy and air tight. If you are elderly or in fact whoever you are, you might want to find out if you hotel room or apartment will have air conditioning.
It will not apply to everyone but if you really want to be able to have easy to your hotel or apartment, without ever having to walk long distances, make sure you have an apartment close to one of the water taxi stops. No matter where you are in Venice, most accommodations will be close enough to a water taxi.
